Often, our church starters travel to nearby churches (and by nearby, we mean hours away) to preach and offer support. Our church starter, Alcides Peña, along with Missionary Aaron Cochrell, spent last week traveling to sister churches, the Baptist Church of Huaracco and the Baptist Church of San Jose de Alhuacchuyo in rural Peru.
Being so far from other churches of like faith and practice has been difficult for these two congregations. They expressed that they feel forgotten, and without strong leadership, they are at risk of adopting ideas that are not in line with solid Biblical doctrine. Please pray for these believers.
Another problem is access to the Bible in the native language of Quechua. So far, the New Testament has been translated. Pastor Alcides is part of a team that is currently working on the monumental task of translating the Old Testament.
On the morning of their last day of travel in Huaracco, a woman sought out Alcides and Aaron where they were staying. She asked them how she could be born twice. Praise the Lord, she accepted the Lord by faith!
We are thankful that each one of our church starters has a heart to not only serve their own churches, but other congregations, as well.
