As of January 27, these lockdown measures have been extended to February 14th. Please continue to pray!

Since most quarantine restrictions lifted in Peru back in November, churches have been able to meet for in-person services at at least 30% capacity.

Today, the cabinet members and the president of Peru declared another 15-day quarantine in effect on January 15th. The new restrictions divide the country into very high, high, and moderate categories of risk. The percentage of capacity allowed in businesses is determined by the risk level. For example, the very high risk category looks like this:

  • Casinos, gyms, movie theaters, theaters: 20%
  • Commercial centers, galleries, retail stores: 30%
  • Restaurants: 40%
  • Churches: 10%

As you can see, the levels are disproportionate, especially for churches. At best, in areas of moderate risk, they can be at 30% capacity. Most of the churches we follow are not in moderate risk areas. To add to that, in areas of very high risk, people are not allowed out on Sundays.

Please pray for the national pastors and missionaries as they navigate this situation with respect to the Peruvian government.
